Burland Farm is organic with clover rich pastures, close
to Nantwich on the Wrexham Road.
Eight generations of Allwoods have Farmed at Burland where
traditional Cheshire was made for over 100 years.
Three years ago, Sandra began producing both soft and fresh
cheeses using their own organic cows milk, two cheeses, Spurstow and Brindley, made from water buffalo milk sent from a local
farm above the Dee estuary. In the next village, local farmers Pete & Pam Major brought theirs milk to make two cheeses,
Swanley and Whitehaven. More recently they have been using sheeps milk from the Forest of Bowland to make a soft cheese. Each
cheese is named after a local village or one of their fields.
In March 2002, Sandra was named Enterprising Rural Business
Woman of the year in Country Living Magazine. Cheeses are available from their Organic Country Store at the farm, Booths Supermarket,
Regional specialist shops and farmers markets. A recent delivery went to America, and you can soon order online at www.ravensoakdairy.com
or by mail order.
