Latin
name: Melaleuca cajeputi, Vietnam.
Smell:
Pungent, medicinal, slightly spicy.
Cajeput
has antiseptic qualities and can help to combat infectious illnesses. Inhaling a few drops in hot water may help to relieve
colds, laryngitis and sore throats. The oil can be applied to painful joints or used as a chest rub to ease respiratory conditions,
and was traditionally rubbed on the forehead to relieve a headache.
The
oil is steam-distilled from the fresh leaves and twigs of this evergreen tree. Contact with high concentrations of this oil
may irritate skin.
