Latin name: Santalum album, Mysore, India. Smell: Sweet, woody, musky. Sandalwood: Depending on your mood and perspective, sandalwood can be perceived as either being relaxing and having sedative abilities, or uplifting. The relaxing and sedative side is particularly beneficial for easing conditions such as depression, fatigue, stress, insomnia and tension. The uplifting element can also help improve one's mood and aid an extra air of positivity. Some people believe it has aphrodisiacal abilities. Sandalwood is very versatile and combines well with lots of oils. Some examples include, bergamot, clary sage, geranium, juniper, neroli, orange, rosemary and ylang ylang.
